Back to the drawing board - another build attempt
While I like barrage, I don't like that it removes all your preparations. So the idea I came up with is to try and combine kindle arrows with conjure flame, then use incindiary arrows as a sort of 'mini barrage' since it can hit 2 nearby enemies. with my current skill distribution, conjure flame will inflict 13 extra and the kindle arrows will inflict 16 extra...plus i am using elswyth's bow and there is an extra 5 damage from vampiric. i only have nightfall and prophecies, so my skill selection and build options are a little limited.
to make this not too one dimensional - in areas where fire damage isn't good, i could make an ice bow or a lightning bow or both (i already have a shocking bowstring), i can just switch to conjure lightning or frost and use a different preparation like read the wind or something. or just switch it up altogether and use the conjure spell with barrage and ditch preparations altogether.
i am just starting to play again after 3 years, so it will take awhile to figure out what damages are best in which areas

You need to be wielding a fire bowstring to trigger conjure, meaning no vampiric mod.
So basically, you want this with Conjure Flame added

strange, because i was using kindle arrows with conjure flame today and i was pretty sure it was triggering.
however, i also just started a dervish/elementalist and grenth's fingers didn't seem to trigger conjure frost.
anyway, thanks. i guess i can just make a fire bow, an ice bow, and a lightning bow, and maybe just trade the elswyth's (assuming its worth something)

Been a while since ive used a conjure but i'm fairly certain Kindle Arrows triggers it since it converts all damage to fire

ok so for those who have tried elemental damage with rangers, what would probably work better - a combo of a elemental dmg bow with barrage + conjure element, or elemental bow + conjure + incendiary arrows + a preparation?
basically my idea is to be able to use all 4 elements effectively, although i dont know of an enchantment that will add to earth damage. i figure this will be good in places like shiverpeaks where fire would obviously be good, and the ring of fire where ice would obviously good.
not sure where lightning or earth would be particularly useful though
an example skill bar would be
conjure flame - ignite arrows - incindiary arrows - determined shot -
distracting shot - lightning reflexes - antidote signet - res signet
i could probably do away with the res signet in favor of something else, but i'm just kind of throwing that out there for now.

If you are not using splinter with barrage then you are wasting your time.

will it also work with barrage or incendiary arrows? I dont have factions or EOtN, so the splinter/barrage and volley aren't options

Well it wont be hard to test but the req is to WIELD a fire damage weapon ( even if its a wand ). Wiki states that GConflag negates that req but Conflag doesnt ..... :s

Erm, wiki states:

I was talking about this
"Unlike preparations the bonus fire damage is added to the main number and is not displayed individually.
Greater Conflagration negates the need for a fiery upgrade
Unlike the greater version Conflagration does not negate the need for a fiery upgrade
The added damage ignores armor ratings"
Its from Conjure Flame page so the description is wrong :
"Enchantment Spell. For 60 seconds, if you're wielding a fire weapon, your attacks strike for an additional 5...17...20 fire damage."
Unless its a bug , the skill description should be :
"Enchantment Spell. For 60 seconds, if you're dealing fire damage with your weapon, your attacks strike for an additional 5...17...20 fire damage.

Kindle Arrow and the Conflagrations (normal and greater) all negate the need for a fiery weapon upgrade.

yes i did but i should have expanded. It was the following bit that confused me so I went to check them all and you can use any of Kindle,GC or Conflagration to activate the additional damage packet from Conjure Flame without using a fiery mod. I was under the impression that only 1 of the Conflagration(s) worked with Conjure flame but turned out to be wrong.
